We adopted a community.
In 2023 the foundation made a longer-term commitment: the adoption of the Tiphini community in Mthatha. We now provide ongoing support to 200 families through regular distribution of food parcels — and crucially, we have facilitated access to Identity Documents for those who previously lacked the resources to obtain them.
Relief alone was not enough. We understood from the outset that the work has to evolve into a long-term recovery effort — walking alongside communities, not just in crisis, but in healing.
An ID document is the difference between citizenship and invisibility — between accessing social services and being locked out of them. Through Tiphini, we deliver food at the surface and civic participation underneath it. That double-layered intervention is the model we want to scale.
